What we're all about...
The Good News of Jesus Christ the Savior is what Good Shepherd is all about. We love Christ and care about him because he first love and cared for us by living for us, suffering and bleeding for us, dying in our place for us, and rising for us. Jesus is first for us and we place our focus on his work and credit over anyone’s personal record. Christ is the center and star of our most important gatherings: worship services, Bible studies, discussions, even fellowship gatherings.
We are blessed to be a part of a worldwide church body that works together, called a synod, that shares the same concern for Christ and his Word: the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) headquartered in Waukesha, WI.
A place for community building
Good Shepherd is proud to be a part of the Orange Park and Greater Jacksonville communities. Orange Park and Jacksonville are communities of wonderfully diverse and gifted people and we love adding our gifts to the communities around us. Here are a few of the ways that we express our love for our community:
The JAMM program, which exists to connect the youngest members of our community to movement, artistic creativity, music, and language as well as connecting caregivers to one another. We are proud to host this great program for young children and their caregivers. For more information follow the JAMM at Good Shepherd Facebook page.
Partnering with local non-profits. By strategically focusing on and partnering with local non-profits we are able to better serve our community than we can on our own.
Serving the service men and women of NAS Jax and their families. We serve as a contact congregation for our church body to serve the people of NAS Jax. We seek to serve the service men and women of NAS Jax and their families by providing support, hope, and encouragement as they carry out their honorable and important duties to our nation and to us.
Good Shepherd is a place that welcomes our community and wants to be a place where you can build and discover community together in the grace of God. We believe that the good news message of the gospel that God has given us crosses all divides between people. We believe it is able to connect people who believe that gospel in a loving community as a family and moves us to show authentic love and compassion for those who do not believe it.
